How do I check whether a TikTok username is available?
Enter the exact handle. If no account holds it, it is very likely free - though TikTok also reserves and blocks some names, so the signup form has the final word.
Can I search TikTok users by keyword or partial name?
Not reliably from public data. TikTok's in-app search runs on its private index; nothing outside the app has that, so we show exact matches rather than guesses.
Can I find someone by their real name?
No. Real names only appear if someone put one in their display name, and that is not searchable from public data.
A username looks unused but I cannot register it. Why?
TikTok holds back many handles - trademarks, reserved words, names from recently deleted accounts. None of that is visible from outside.
