Can someone see if you view their TikTok profile?
Sometimes. TikTok has a profile view history feature: if both you and the other person have it switched on, they can see that your account visited their profile recently. It only records signed-in accounts, so viewing a public profile without logging in - for example with ViewTikStory's profile viewer - leaves no entry.
How TikTok profile view history works
Profile view history is an opt-in privacy setting in the TikTok app. In broad terms:
- When it is on for you, you can see a list of accounts that recently viewed your profile - but only accounts that also have it turned on.
- When it is off, you cannot see who viewed your profile, and your own visits are not shown to others.
- It works per account, between signed-in users. TikTok has restricted the feature for younger users and for very large accounts; check the current rules in the app, because TikTok adjusts them.
The exact wording of the setting may differ between app versions; it lives under privacy settings in the app.
Does viewing someone’s story or video show up too?
Those are separate:
- Stories have their own viewer list, visible to the poster - see can someone see if you view their TikTok story?
- Videos do not show the creator a list of individual viewers - only counts.
- Profile visits appear in profile view history under the conditions above.
How to view a TikTok profile without leaving a trace
Do not sign in. Profile view history needs an account to record, and so does the story viewer list. With the ViewTikStory profile viewer you enter a username and see the bio, link in bio, verification, follower and like counts, and the profile picture at full size - with no account attached.
From the same result you can jump to the account’s stories, highlights and reposts without typing the name again.
A word on etiquette
Visiting a public profile is ordinary. But if someone has blocked you, the respectful move is to accept it - and tools like ours are not meant to keep tabs on people who have asked for distance.
Frequently asked questions
Does TikTok show who viewed your profile?
Yes, through profile view history - but only when both people have the setting switched on, and only for signed-in accounts.
How do I turn off TikTok profile view history?
Open your privacy settings in the TikTok app and switch off profile view history. With it off, your visits are not shown to others and you cannot see your own visitors.
Can someone see that I viewed their profile without logging in?
No. Profile view history needs an account to record, so a logged-out visit leaves no entry.
Can creators see who watched their videos?
No. Videos show view counts, not a list of individual viewers.
