Troubleshooting
Why TikTok Notes do not show in story viewers
Notes and Stories are two different features. Story viewers read the public story surface, and Notes are not published there - so a Note you can see in the app will not appear in any browser-based viewer. This is a limit of what TikTok publishes, not a bug in the tool.
Notes are not Stories
They look similar in the app - both sit near the top of the interface, both feel short-lived - which is why people reasonably expect one tool to show both. Underneath they are separate features with separate data.
A story viewer works by reading the public story surface for an account. If a piece of content is not published to that surface, the tool has nothing to find. It is not filtering Notes out; it never sees them.
Why “but it is public” does not change the answer
“Public” inside the TikTok app and “published to the public web” are not the same thing. Plenty of content is visible to any logged-in user in the app while never being served to logged-out visitors. App-only surfaces are reachable by the app, with a session, through interfaces that are not open to outside tools.
So a Note can be perfectly public in the ordinary sense and still be invisible to any browser-based tool. Both things are true at once.
What can and cannot be read from outside
| Feature | Readable by ViewTikStory? |
|---|---|
| Active stories (public accounts) | Yes - story viewer |
| Story highlights pinned to a profile | Yes - highlights viewer |
| Public reposts tab | Yes - repost viewer |
| Notes | No |
| Liked-videos list | No - private by default |
| A hidden reposts tab | No - it is a privacy setting |
| Friends-only or subscriber-only stories | No - gated by definition |
Is this likely to change?
It depends entirely on TikTok. If they start publishing Notes to a public surface, tools will be able to read them; until then, no tool can. Treat any site claiming to show Notes with scepticism, and check whether it is actually showing you a Note or just the account’s ordinary story.
Frequently asked questions
What are TikTok Notes?

No. They can look similar in the app, but they are stored and shown separately.
What can a story viewer show instead?
Active stories, pinned highlights and public reposts of public accounts.
